Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade
Since 1908, boat owners in Newport Beach have "decked the hulls" of their seagoing vessels and seaside homes for the annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. The parade features approximately 200 elaborately decorated boats and draws more than one million spectators each year. Prizes are awarded in a variety of categories such as "Best Humor and Originality" and "Best Lights and Animation!" As the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade moves it way through the Newport Harbor, you can view the parade from almost any place on the shore FREE of cost.
Newport Beach begins its holiday decorations after Thanksgiving and by the first of December the harbor is richly illuminated with thousands of lights and hundreds of themed estates. The parade takes place over 5 nights from the third Wednesday in December to the third Sunday. This year’s parade is Dec. 19 to Dec. 23, 2012.
Newport Landing provides 3 cruises each night of the parade and all of December. Cruises during the parade travel in the parade and view both ships and estates in full décor.
